"BREATHE II” Study: Biomarkers and REspiratory imaging in Adolescents—The Hope Center Experience. Mechanisms & risk factors of chronic lung disease in HIV+ adolescents in Nairobi

Overview

This is a prospective observational cohort study enrolling vertically infected HIV+
adolescents in HIV care programs in Nairobi who have chronic lung disease, and investigating
mechanisms and risk factors that may explain pathophysiology of lung disease. A comparative group of
HIV uninfected adolescents are also enrolled, and are evaluated for the same biomarkers and for
presence of chronic lung disease.
